All hallows eve brings Tricks…at the café
Nina loves Halloween in its modern incarnation and thrills in decorating her café with kid-friendly spookiness. Candy and toy treats on the counter. Pumpkin spiced beverages. Ghost and bat shaped cookies and cakes. Glow-in-the-dark cotton spiderwebs. All the fun Halloween traditions.
Except for witch decorations, of course. Too on the nose for Nina.
But this Halloween, something feels…off. Wrong. Like a sour note on a keyboard. Larger crowd than usual. Like someone booked a party at the café and forgot to tell her. Everyone seems happy. Laughter and delight fill the room. So why does dread skitter down Nina’s spine?
Watching the crowds, Nina knows a problem when she sees it. And if she can’t solve the mystery, this Halloween trick won’t be a treat.
